Frequently Asked Questions
The fastest way to get answers to the most common questions that people ask is to read the information below. If you have other questions, or if we can be of any other help please speak to Reception 08 6500 3277 or contact us via the website, we are here to help.
As of Friday 29 April the WA Mask Mandate has been lifted, although masks will still be required for those 12 yrs+ on public transport, in ride-share services and taxis, at aged care facilities, hospitals, prisons and disability care facilities. Whilst physical distancing is still encouraged, the capacity limit (including the 2 metre square rule) has also been lifted at all venues. As we are all encouraged to learn to live with Covid in the community, The Perth Brain Centre continues to take the health and well-being of our patients and staff very seriously. In order to help minimise the spread of Covid, reduce the risk of illness amongst our staff and patients, and the disruption that this can cause in clinic, please be aware of the following:
Masks - All clinic staff will continue to wear masks and we are strongly encouraging that all patients also continue to wear masks whilst in clinic.
Physical Distancing - We encourage all patients to continue physical distancing wherever possible.
Companions - We request that all patients keep the number of companions in clinic to a maximum of one. We understand that a parent will need to accompany their child into clinic, however we would request that patients do not bring other siblings into the clinics.
Hand Hygiene - Hand hygiene and room cleaning practices at the clinics continue to be strictly performed before and after each patient contact. We also provide and encourage the use of hand sanitiser for all patients throughout the clinics.
Telehealth Video Consultations - Whilst we understand that some people may prefer face-to-face appointments, as part of our Risk Reduction Programme all Initial Consultations and Report of Findings Appointments will continue to be conducted via Video Telehealth to keep the number of people in clinic to a minimum.
Symptoms of cough, headache, sore throat, runny nose, fever or shortness of breath - We would remind patients not to enter the clinics if feeling unwell.
Confirmed Positive Covid-19 Cases - Current WA Government Health Guidelines state that anyone testing positive to Covid-19 must isolate at home for 7 days. If you have no symptoms after 7 days, then no further test is required, and you can stop isolating. If you have symptoms on day 7, remain in isolation until those symptoms clear or get clearance from a medical professional before leaving isolation.
Close Contacts - Current WA Government Health Guidelines define a close contact as: A household member or intimate partner of a person with COVID-19 who has had contact with them during their infectious period; or someone who has had close personal interaction with a person with COVID-19 during their infectious period, where they spent 4 hours of cumulative contact with them in a residential setting (including a home, residential care facility, boarding school, maritime vessel, or other accommodation facility) in any 24-hour period where masks have been removed by both people during the period of contact; or someone who is informed by WA Health that they are a close contact.
Current WA Government Health Guidelines state that close contacts with no symptoms are not required to isolate for 7 days, but must: undertake a daily Rapid Antigen Test and obtain a negative result wear a mask when leaving the house, avoid high-risk settings, including hospitals, healthcare settings, aged care facilities, residential care facilities (including disability care facilities and mental health residential facilities) and correctional facilities unless they work at these locations. Relevant workers entering high risk settings are subject to additional obligations. They are also strongly encouraged to: avoid non-essential gatherings and contact with people at risk of severe illness work from home, where possible notify their employer/educational facility of their close contact status. Close contacts with no symptoms who work in a high-risk setting must also: advise their employer they are a close contact seek confirmation from their employer to attend work monitor for symptoms immediately leave the workplace and return home if they develop symptoms or become COVID positive only enter or remain at the high-risk setting for the purposes of their work duties wear a surgical mask while at work along with any PPE requirements from their employer not share break areas at work with any other person maintain physical distancing Close contacts with symptoms must continue to isolate until symptoms resolve and get tested as per existing protocols. If a close contact tests positive, they must isolate for a further 7 days as per arrangements for positive COVID-19 cases.
Thank you for your help and understanding.
MRI and CT Scans are commonly used to look at the brain and provide detailed information about brain structure. These types of scans however do not provide any information about how someone’s brain is working. Quantitative Electro-Encephalogram (QEEG) assesses brain activity directly, and provides detailed information about how an individual’s brain is functioning, typically providing information about areas of under or over-activity.
Neuroplasticity, the amazing ability of our brain to change its own structure and function, has no age limits. However in practice it can sometimes be very difficult to perform a QEEG Brain Scan and some of the therapies with very young children. For this reason we do not see children less than 3 years old.
No. It is very important that patients continue taking medication as prescribed and to keep us informed of any changes.
No clinic can offer a 100% guarantee because no treatment works for everyone all the time, and of course brain-based therapies are no different. However, The Perth Brain Centre has built a reputation by helping thousands of people over more than 10 years using evidence-based therapies delivered by a team of healthcare professionals. You are making the right choice by choosing The Perth Brain Centre.
Absolutely! We run regular Clinic Information Sessions, see our News and Events page to find out more.
